London Youth Games, June 2009

Overall the Budokwai had ten potential entries for the year’s London Youth Games. Unfortunately, due to age restrictions we were down to five. Out of the five entered, one had to sadly pull out, leaving us with four of the Budokwai Junior Squad.

The boys were really excited about taking part, especially as they all received hoodies and t-shirts with the Chelsea Football Team emblem!

The London Youth Games was good experience for all of them. It was an opportunity for them to get a sense of the next step in their judo life. Being in that environment will prove invaluable for them in future tournaments. They all fought incredibly well, with the result that we got 3 Medals.

Christian Mitchell who is 12 got Gold, 11 year old Jacques Visboe fought for Silver and Thomas Galeon who is 13 got Bronze. Paul Sard had to fight in a heavy weight and did himself proud fighting courageously. It was a little tough for him as all the boys were bigger and older.
They are all an example of what can be achieved with the dedication and commitment they have shown in their approach to their training. Congratulations to them, and many thanks to all parents, guardians and families for their support.
